Historique. Après sa création à Londres (la première eut lieu le 24 octobre 1908 au Queen’s Theatre), l’oeuvre connut également un grand succès aux Etats-Unis, où elle fut donnée 72 fois au Daly’s Theatre de New York du 8 novembre 1909 au 8 janvier 1910. Elle a semble-t-il été également jouée en Australie.
